Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth
by Pablo Picasso

Hi, my name is Elena
and I started Ampers & Pilcrow

About us:

Ampers & Pilcrow is built on everything I have learned as an artist and someone who genuinely believes in the power of the bound object. I work with authors and publishers who understand that a book is more than just words on a page—it is an exploration and exchange of ideas, held in a physical, tactile form.
In our digital time, it becomes increasingly clear how difficult it is to sustain the act of making and reading books. Everyone is drawn towards the moving image, yet you are here, reading this. It means the written word still matters, and there will always be people fighting to preserve the exchange of ideas in bound and written form.
I have always been drawn to books as objects—not just for the stories they hold, but for the craft of them. The weight of the paper, the precision of the binding, the way a well-designed page invites you to read. As a designer and emerging artist, I take great pride in creating custom book covers that honor both the text and the vision behind it.
In my artistic practice, I explore the everyday and the inner imagination. My work examines what lies beneath surfaces—the quiet spaces, the intentional details, the restraint that allows meaning to emerge. This extends to vibrant and colorful work as well; it is not about limitation, but about knowing when restraint serves the story, and when richness does.
If you are working on a book and would like to explore what it could become, I would love to hear from you. Whether you are self-publishing or managing a publishing house, Ampers & Pilcrow is here to bring intention and care to every stage of your project. Let us create something meaningful together.

Ampers &

Pilcrow.

The bound book remains an act of resistance—and an act of care.

This is what Ampers & Pilcrow believes in.
